JSС  "Skidel Sugar Refinery behalf PZ Kalinin" - the largest enterprise Skidel, which depends largely on the life of the city. Skidelsky sugar plant - the oldest in the Republic of Belarus in the sugar industry.

In 1946, the order of the USSR Council of Ministers for the construction of the first Belarusian sugar factory has been allocated special equipment and supplies after 5 years in March 1951 the company was accepted into service by the State Commission. Its technology, heat and water schemes (including cleaning drains, packaging technology and energy equipment) were designed and implemented at the level of advanced science and technology of the time.

The plant has always been the flagship sugar industry. In 1954, the capacity is 800 tons of sugar beet per day. Subsequent years characterized by a gradual increase in the capacity of the enterprise and improving quality performance. In 1960 -1970g.g. Reconstruction was carried out and the plant capacity reached 1700 tonnes. Since 1961 the company started to process raw sugar.

In addition to sugar in the company since 1961, organized production of citric acid. Production of this kind of production is about 1500 tons per year.

In the course of the 1993 renovation was put into operation a new technology building, will increase the design capacity of processing 3000 tons of beet a day.

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus № 522 of 16 August 1993 the company reorganized into OJSC "Skidelsky sugar plant. Company founder is the Ministry for State Property Management and Privatization of the Republic of Belarus.

Further development of the enterprise is connected with the reconstruction of the major production facilities for processing of sugar beets, carried out in accordance with the Development Programme of the sugar industry for 2005-2010 (approved by the Council of Ministers of Belarus № 792 of 15.07.2005g.). As a result, the processing of sugar beet harvest in 2008 the company has reached a processing capacity of 6 thousand tons of beets per day.
